Experience

The degree of experience of an amateur boxer has some impact on the length of the rounds in a bout and the number of rounds in a bout.

The term  "sub-novice"  refers to a boxer who has not yet competed in a sanctioned boxing match.

The term "novice"  is used to refer to a boxer who has competed in ten or less sanctioned boxing matches.

A boxer who has competed in ten sanctioned matches is thereafter in the "open" category.
